Gamble Rogers State Park

Gamble Rogers State Park site #19

Gamble Rogers is a jewel if you are looking to camp on the beach. It's one of the few Florida state parks that are on the ocean. Hyway A1A splits the park in half. The sites on the beach side are smaller than most state park sites, but that's to be expected. One side of the beach campground sites are against the highway while the others are directly overlooking the beach. There are dunes that block the view from most of the sites. The 3 sites before the shower house are your best bet. The sites from the shower house to the south are for smaller campers and are a little easier to reserve.

The shower houses were very clean. The Beach and Grounds were well kept. The West side of the road is a larger campground but not on the water. The sites were large and clean but did not impress. We are not sure we would stay at the park again if not for ocean access. Neither side has any shade so plan accordingly. There is a boat ramp on the West side of the road and an area for tying up.

A bar / restaurant is walking distance from the park just walk to the north and you cant miss it. Unfortunately we did not visit on our stay. most things other than the beach will requier heading North toward Flagler or South toward Ormand Beach. There are sidewalks all the way to Flagler. Definitely somewhere you could safely bike and visit several restaurants and bars along the way. We enjoyed our vacation here but would probably try something closer to our destination. If hanging out at an uncrowded beach is what you are looking for it's perfect.
